Gas Tax Update:

Gas Tax Update:

IRC, out of respect for our Governor, has pulled the legislation for this year.  We will reintroduce it next year with his support.  The reason has nothing to do with the goal of our bill but rather to allow IDPR’s bill that will create a Passport Program for parks to pass and get established.

Comment Period Extended on Planning for Sage-Grouse Conservation Measures

February 14th, 2012 | Posted By:id-rc-webmaster

Dear BRC members and supporters,

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) issued a corrected Notice of Intent to address sage grouse in 10 additional National Forest System Lands and Resource Management Plans, and formally extended the comment period through March 23, 2012.  The notice was published in the February 10, 2012, Federal Register.

The BLM and the Forest Service are seeking public comment on issues that should be addressed in Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Supplemental Environmental Impact Statements (SEIS) that will evaluate and provide greater sage-grouse conservation measures in land use plans in 10 Western states.

One More Round for RTP

February 14th, 2012 | Posted By:id-rc-webmaster
Things are looking brighter for the Recreational Trails Program and that is good news, but we can’t sit back and congratulate ourselves just yet. Senator Klobuchar (MN) is introducing an amendment to the MAP-21 transportation bill. We need to urge our Senators to support this amendment or even to contact Sen. Klobuchar’s office to sign onto the amendment.

MAP-21 is the transportation reauthorization bill that is in the Senate and passed out of committee. As it is currently, RTP funding is not dedicated, which will pretty much kill the program. The Klobuchar amendment will once again re-dedicate the RTP funding.

It is important that we all send this information throughout our networks and urge everyone to contact their Senators as soon as possible. A vote on MAP-21 on the Senate floor could happen as soon as this week.

Go to the ARRA website to send an e-mail to your Senator.

Let’s hope that this will be the last round needed!
