Forest agrees to look at closed roads with county

Through several coordination meetings over the past year or so, the Custer County Commissioners kept asking Salmon-Challis National Forest officials to explain the data and rationale for closing roads in their 2009 travel plan.
At an October 6 government-to-government meeting, Forest Supervisor Frank Guzman initially said he had no plans to reopen the travel plan and no legal responsibility to do so. That’s because a recent judge’s ruling merely directed the agency to fix parts of it, he said.
